We are a British Early Years Foundation Stage and Reggio Emilia-based nursery in Abu Dhabi, caring for children from 45 days to 4 years old. Our carefully designed programmes provide age-appropriate resources and activities that nurture each stage of development, right up until children are ready to join primary school.
At Discovery Nursery, we combine world-class early childhood education with a family-run, homely environment, ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in learning through play, creativity, and exploration. By blending indoor and outdoor classrooms with natural learning materials, we create a warm, home-away-from-home environment where children feel empowered and ready to learn.
We follow the British EYFS framework and enrich it with the Reggio Emilia approach, which values curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery. Every classroom is thoughtfully prepared to invite exploration, self-expression, and collaboration, helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Who We Are
Our story began in 1999, when our founders, Mr. and Mrs. Rashid, opened their first nursery in Dubai.
Since then, their passion for high-quality early education has led to several successful nurseries across the UAE, recognised by ADEK, EdArabia, and the Preschool Learning Alliance (UK).
Mrs. Rashid, who holds a Master’s in Early Years Education from the USA, has dedicated her career to creating nurturing and inspiring spaces for young children.
In 2022, Step By Step Nursery Abu Dhabi was rebranded as Discovery Nursery, bringing over 25 years of experience together with a fresh, modern approach to early learning.
Our Journey So Far:
1999 – Opened Kids Cottage Nursery in Dubai (sold in 2010)
2009 – Opened Step By Step Nursery in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
2022 – Rebranded Step By Step Nursery Abu Dhabi as Discovery Nursery

Outdoor Learning
Our outdoor areas are designed for safe exploration and active play, including:

✓ Age-separated play zones with spongy surfaces for safe climbing, running, and discovery.

Merging Premium Early Years Education and Childcare
We offer a variety of programmes, including daycare for infants and toddlers, nursery programmes, and preschool readiness for 3-4-year-olds. We also run holiday programmes for children up to 4 years old, so learning never stops even during school breaks.
We believe it’s never too early to start learning. That’s why our programs are carefully developed with curriculum experts and childcare specialists, ensuring that children gain the confidence, curiosity, and skills they need for a seamless transition into school.
